The formula
days = (end date − start date) ÷ 86,400,000 ms
What the result means
The plain day count is what deadlines, visas and interest calculations use. The years–months–days view matches how people speak ('6 months and 3 days left'). The inclusive count adds one — useful for 'how many days does the fair run' questions.
Frequently asked questions
Does it count leap years correctly?
Yes — it uses real calendar dates, so 29 February is counted whenever it appears between your two dates.
Why 364 days for a full year, not 365?
Because 1 January to 31 December spans 364 midnights. Counting both first and last day gives 365 — both numbers are shown so you can pick the right one.
