SSC scale (Bangladesh): A+ = 5.00 (80+), A = 4.00 (70–79), A− = 3.50 (60–69), B = 3.00 (50–59), C = 2.00 (40–49), D = 1.00 (33–39), F = 0.00 (below 33). For subjects with two papers, enter the average of both papers.

Main points: 5 + 4 + 5 + 3.5 + 5 = 22.50 · 4th-subject bonus: 5.00 − 2 = 3.00 → (22.50 + 3.00) ÷ 5 subjects = GPA 5.00 — a golden A+, rescued by the 4th subject.

The formula

SSC GPA = (sum of main-subject points + (4th-subject point − 2)) ÷ number of main subjects

What the result means

SSC GPA in Bangladesh is computed on the 5.00 scale over your main subjects only — usually five: Bangla, English and three group subjects. The 4th (optional) subject never joins the division; instead it donates its points minus 2 as a bonus (an A+ gives 3.00, an A gives 2.00, and anything below B+ gives nothing, since the bonus never goes below zero). That is why a strong 4th subject can lift a 4.60 to a 5.00, and why every subject still matters: a single F in a main subject caps the whole result at 0.00 until the board's own rules apply.

Frequently asked questions

How does the 4th subject bonus work?

Take your 4th subject's grade point, subtract 2, and add the result to your total — but only if the subtraction is positive (A− or lower gives no bonus). The divisor stays the number of main subjects. This matches the official SSC calculation used by Bangladeshi education boards.

Can I calculate HSC GPA with this too?

Yes — HSC uses the same 5.00 scale and the same 4th-subject rule, so the arithmetic is identical. Enter your HSC subjects the same way.

Why do I enter the average for two-paper subjects?

Bangla and English each have two papers, but the board counts them as one subject. Add both paper marks and divide by 2 (or average the two grades) — the Percentage Calculator can do that division for you.

What is a golden GPA 5?

GPA 5.00 earned with A+ in every subject — including the 4th. If the calculator shows 5.00 but one main subject was below A+, your 4th subject carried you: still GPA 5, just not the golden kind.
