Learn the difference between a good deal and a trap

Online shopping is everyday life now — and scams have grown right alongside it. Every day someone loses money to a fake "flash sale", a courier trick or an advance-payment fraud. The bad news: scammers get smarter every year. The good news: their patterns barely change — recognize the pattern and you're safe. Here are the seven, written for the real market.

1. "Today only!" — the oldest pressure trick

An impossible discount + "almost out of stock" + "offer ends tonight" — when you see all three together, stop. Honest shops don't frighten you into buying. Wait ten minutes and compare the price somewhere else; the sellers whose price is the same everywhere are usually the honest ones.

2. Advance payment is a red light

"Delivery charge" or "booking money" requested upfront to a personal mobile-wallet number? No matter how reasonable the excuse sounds — don't send it. Reliable platforms offer cash on delivery or a proper payment gateway. Personal number + money first = 99% trap.

3. Don't click links you didn't ask for

"Your order has been cancelled, visit this link" — look at the spelling of that link carefully. Fake sites usually change one letter of a real name. Type shopping sites into the address bar yourself; never arrive via a link in a message.

4. Read reviews with your brain, not just your eyes

Every review five stars, all in the same wording? That's the signature of purchased reviews. Real review sections mix happiness and complaint, include photos, and grumble about sizes and delivery. The 1–2 star reviews tell you the most truth.

5. If the price is far below the market, ask why

Everyone sells at 25,000 and one seller offers 9,000? That's not a lucky deal — it's a counterfeit product or a plain trap. Abnormally cheap equals abnormally risky. This equation never fails.

6. Open the parcel at the door

Ask for open-box delivery when it's available — check the item in front of the courier before signing. Wrong or broken? Note the return immediately. A short unboxing video is your witness on the day things go wrong.

7. Keep records of everything

Order confirmations, chats, payment screenshots — save them all. If a dispute comes, these are your statements. And if fraud happens, report to the courier company or platform fast; delays make tracing much harder.
