Markdown Previewer — See Rendered Markdown Live

← Paper PortThe Creative Island · Island 10

Type Markdown, see it rendered — live, side by side, with HTML safely escaped first.

How to use this tool

  1. Type or paste Markdown in the left box — headings with #, bold with **, lists with -.
  2. Press Render preview (or keep editing and re-render).
  3. The right side shows the safe rendered result — copy the structure you intended, or just check your syntax.

Example

# Port Report becomes an H1 heading; **arrived** becomes arrived; - tea becomes a bullet. Rendered live — what you see is what your README will show.

The formula

escape all HTML first, then transform Markdown tokens — script tags can never survive the trip

What the result means

The previewer renders a practical subset — headings, lists, quotes, rules, links, bold, italic, code — which covers 95% of everyday Markdown. Because all raw HTML is escaped before rendering, pasted scripts appear as text instead of executing: a previewer's first job is to be safe, its second to be useful.

Frequently asked questions

Is raw HTML allowed in my Markdown?

No — it is escaped and displayed as text. That's deliberate: a previewer that executes HTML executes scripts too. Real Markdown renderers on trusted platforms can opt-in; a public tool shouldn't.

What Markdown features aren't supported?

Tables, footnotes, task lists and images — heavier extensions that vary between flavors. The supported subset is common to every flavor.

Why render on a button instead of as I type?

Deliberate calm: large documents re-render smoothly, and nothing flickers while you type. Press the button whenever you want a fresh look.

Is my text saved?

No — the preview exists only in your browser's memory for this visit.

Text Sorter — Sort Lines A-Z, Z-A, by Length or Reverse

← Paper PortThe Creative Island · Island 10

Any list, sorted — A to Z, Z to A, shortest first, longest first, or flipped.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste your list — blank lines are ignored.
  2. Pick a sort: alphabetical (both ways), by length, numeric-aware, or a simple flip.
  3. Copy the sorted result.

Example

File names like file2, file10, file1: plain A→Z gives file1, file10, file2 — but numeric aware gives file1, file2, file10, the order humans expect. That's why it exists.

The formula

localeCompare with numeric:true — the browser's international-aware comparison, tuned for humans

What the result means

Naive sorting is alphabetical and case-sensitive ('Zebra' before 'apple'); this tool uses the browser's international collation, which ignores case and — in numeric-aware mode — compares embedded numbers as numbers. The result is the order a person would expect, which is usually the point of sorting.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the sort case-insensitive?

Because lists meant for humans read better that way — 'apple, Banana, Mango' instead of 'Banana, apple, Mango'. If you need byte-order sorting, your terminal already does it.

What does 'numeric aware' do exactly?

It compares digit runs inside lines as numbers: version1, version2, version10 in true numeric order instead of version1, version10, version2.

Can I sort CSV or multi-column data?

Not sensibly — this tool sorts whole lines. For spreadsheets, sort in the spreadsheet; this bench is for plain lists.

Is my list private?

Yes — sorting happens entirely in your browser.

URL Slug Generator — Clean URLs from Any Title

← Paper PortThe Creative Island · Island 10

Titles in, clean URLs out — lowercase, hyphens, no risky characters. Live, as you type.

Result:

How to use this tool

  1. Type or paste your title — the slug updates live.
  2. Check the preview URL below it — that's what visitors will see.
  3. Copy slug and paste it into your CMS's permalink field.

Example

“The Honest Budget Phone Checklist — 7 Steps!” → the-honest-budget-phone-checklist-7-steps — readable, lowercase, hyphenated, and stable forever.

The formula

slug = lowercase, & → 'and', non-alphanumerics → hyphens, edges trimmed, runs collapsed

What the result means

A slug is the last piece of your URL and a small ranking signal — short, descriptive slugs with hyphens (never underscores, which Google treats as word-joiners) help both readers and crawlers. The golden rule: change slugs before publishing, never after, unless you enjoy setting up redirects.

Frequently asked questions

Hyphens or underscores in URLs?

Hyphens. Google has said outright that it treats hyphens as word separators and underscores as joiners — word_word reads as one long token.

Should the slug match the full title?

No — keep the 3–6 words that carry meaning. 'budget-phone-checklist' beats a 10-word echo of the headline.

My title is in Bangla — will it work?

Yes — the generator preserves Bangla letters and only strips unsafe symbols, so a Bangla slug stays readable in Bangla URLs.

Is my title uploaded?

No — the slug is generated in your browser as you type.

Remove Extra Spaces — Clean Messy Text

← Paper PortThe Creative Island · Island 10

Double spaces collapsed, line edges trimmed, blank lines optional — text from PDFs and Excel, cleaned.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste the messy text (PDF copy-paste is the usual suspect).
  2. Toggle whether blank lines are kept (as single breaks) or removed entirely.
  3. Press Clean text, then copy the result.

Example

PDF text like The  Creative  Island   World → The Creative Island World. A spreadsheet column pasted with trailing spaces on every row comes out trimmed on both ends.

The formula

collapse runs of spaces/tabs to one space, trim each line's edges, collapse or drop blank lines

What the result means

PDFs store visual layout, not clean text — copying from them drags along double spaces, tabs and line-end junk. Cleaning fixes three real problems: searches fail on hidden spaces, code breaks on trailing whitespace, and word counts inflate. The before→after count tells you how dirty the source really was.

Frequently asked questions

Will it break my paragraph structure?

No — single line breaks and (optionally) single blank lines are preserved. Only the extra whitespace dies.

Does it remove non-breaking spaces (the invisible kind)?

Yes if they appear as spaces — regular spaces, tabs and runs of both collapse into one. True   entities in HTML paste arrive as characters and are treated like spaces.

Why keep blank lines at all?

Markdown and emails use blank lines as paragraph separators. Toggle removal only for list-style data.

Is my text stored?

No — cleaning happens in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.

Remove Duplicate Lines — Dedupe Any List

← Paper PortThe Creative Island · Island 10

Paste a messy list → get clean unique lines, plus a report of what was removed.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste your list — one item per line (emails, keywords, IDs, names).
  2. Press Remove duplicates — exact-match duplicates are dropped, first occurrence kept.
  3. Copy result gives you the clean list. Blank lines are collapsed too.

Example

A 1,000-row email list with 217 repeats → 783 unique rows, order preserved — so the first entry of every customer stays at the top.

The formula

walk the lines once, keep the first of each exact match (a hash-set of seen lines)

What the result means

This is exact-line deduplication — 'Apple' and 'apple' are different entries, and ' apple' with a stray space is a third. Clean whitespace first with the Remove Extra Spaces tool if your data came from spreadsheets, then dedupe for the true count.

Frequently asked questions

Is the comparison case-sensitive?

Yes — 'Dhaka' and 'dhaka' are kept as different lines. For case-insensitive dedup, convert the whole list to lowercase first with the Case Converter, then dedupe here.

Does it keep the original order?

Yes — the first time each line appears is the one kept, and the sequence of those firsts is preserved. No silent alphabetizing.

Can it remove duplicates inside a line (words)?

No — this tool is line-based. Word-level dedup is a different job for a different bench.

Is my list uploaded?

No — the list never leaves your browser, which makes this safe even for customer data.

Case Converter — UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case & More

← Paper PortThe Creative Island · Island 10

Seven cases, one click each — from shouting (UPPER) to programming (camel, snake, kebab).

How to use this tool

  1. Paste your text.
  2. Click a case button — the converted text appears below.
  3. Copy result when it looks right. camel/snake/kebab strip punctuation for code-safe output.

Example

“the creative island — port of saidpur” → Title: The Creative Island — Port of Saidpur · camel: theCreativeIsland · snake: the_creative_island · kebab: the-creative-island

The formula

Title Case capitalizes each word except small words (a, of, the…) mid-sentence; sentence case capitalizes only sentence starts

What the result means

UPPERCASE reads as shouting online; sentence case is the modern default for articles; Title Case suits headlines and book names. The three code cases exist because compilers and URLs dislike spaces — camelCase for variables, snake_case for Python and databases, kebab-case for URLs and CSS classes.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Title Case keep small words lowercase?

That's AP/Chicago style — articles and short prepositions stay lowercase unless they start the title. 'The Creative Island and the Port of Saidpur' beats every word capitalized.

My text lost punctuation in camelCase — why?

Code identifiers can't contain punctuation, so anything that isn't a letter or digit is treated as a word boundary. That's the correct behavior, not a bug.

Can I convert Bangla text?

UPPER/lower don't apply — Bangla has no case. The word-aware cases treat Bangla text safely (it passes through unchanged).

Is my text uploaded?

No — conversion happens entirely in your browser.

Word Counter — Words, Characters & Reading Time

← Paper PortThe Creative Island · Island 10

Live counts as you type — words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, reading and speaking time.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste or type your text — every number updates live.
  2. Check the numbers that matter for your task: word limits, character limits, or reading time.
  3. Clear empties the box (nothing was saved anyway).

Example

A 500-word essay: ≈ 3,000 characters, about 25 sentences, a 2–3 minute read — the classic blog-post length. A resume should land near 400–600 words; a LinkedIn post under 1,300 characters.

The formula

reading time = words ÷ 200 per minute (average adult); speaking = words ÷ 130

What the result means

Word count is the honest size of a document — editors think in words, platforms in characters, audiences in minutes. The two minutes differ because silent reading (about 200 wpm) is faster than speaking pace (about 130 wpm); use speaking time for scripts and presentations.

Frequently asked questions

How are words counted?

Any run of non-space characters counts as one word — 'state-of-the-art' is one word, so is '…'. This matches Word and Google Docs.

What reading speed do you assume?

200 words per minute — the widely used average for adult silent reading of general text. Technical material reads slower; skimming faster.

Do hyphenated words or numbers count?

Yes — both are words by the standard method. Numbers like 2,026 count as one word.

Is my text stored anywhere?

No — counting happens in your browser as you type; refresh and it's gone.
